Information wanted on becoming an Ebay Trading Assistant?
I’ve bought a lot on eBay and sold a little. I’m interested in being an eBay Trading Assistant but I’m not sure how to begin (other than signing up on eBay, of course).
I’d like any kind of info you might be willing to share in addition to the questions below.
1) Where and how do you find consignors without a huge budget for advertising?
2) How do you determine opening bid price and whether to use a reserve?
3) What should my commission be? How do I determine that figure?
4) I can see how easy it is for big e-tailers selling the same items to just relist and relist and relist the same thing. But with consignments you will seldom list the same item from different consignors. My question is how you can research and write an effective auction in a minimum of time?
Any other suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.
www.auctiva.com I believe is the site for you. It has a built in program for consignments, etc. (I looked into it…then I left eBay because of the fees). It is free, but eBay is not.
I am at www.ecrater.com if you want to save money on the consignments, you may do better over there, because eBay takes a chunk and ecrater takes nothing….at all!
I do consignment listings, but my research will cost you…LOL!! I charge about 30% on a sliding scale, reduced as the final value price climbs, to enable my customer/client to have more in their pocket (yes, less in mine…BUT that means they are more likely to come back!) and I take care of packing, shipping, tracking, etc. That is part of the fee.
(LIKE this: $100 item sells to you, and then I charge you for the shipping, that is part of the fee the buyer knows they pay. (that isn’t part of this calculation because that is just something that the buyer pays.) Then I would have $70 for my client and $30 for me. As the purchase price climbs, like $1000, the scales (being a percentage) keeps sliding backwards, to allow the client to have more money…and to encourage them to sell larger priced items to begin with (like 30% for the first $100, then 25% for the next $500 then the remainder 20%)…it may sound confusing…but it isn’t.
If you need it more clearly explained… I can do that…just ask.
Best wishes.
