How to test Ebay Coupon Codes?

i understand that there are coupon codes that can be use on ebay but i do not know if they all work. I want to buy this thing only if i get a discount, so i do not want to win the bid and requested to pay but find out the coupon doesn’t work or is a fake. So is there a way to find out if the coupon code is legit or will work without the need to actually pay for the item?

The coupon codes are issued by ebay for specific ids, and there is a record in your account of which codes you have. When you use a particular coupon code it goes gray, so you can’t use it again. Other people cannot use your code.

If ebay didn’t send you the code, it is not legit.
